Classes at Tonbridge Judo Club
Elite-level judo coaching for beginners, families and competitive players. Whether you are starting for fitness, confidence, discipline or competition, we can help you find the right session.
Juniors
(Under 12s)
A structured introduction to judo for under-12s, building confidence, coordination and discipline. Sessions are broken down into clear, achievable stages so children can progress at a pace that suits them.

Youth & Adults
Coaching for older juniors and adults, from beginners through to experienced players. New starters are taught the basics properly before any sparring, while experienced players can develop through technical work and higher-intensity randori.

Competition
Focused training for players looking to develop, compete and progress through the judo pathway. Competition training builds on regular club sessions and is guided by coach recommendation, based on grade, fitness and commitment.

Classes run Monday to Friday. Training times may occasionally change around holidays, competitions and club events, so please check before your first visit.

Your First Session
Your first session is about getting a feel for the club. You will be introduced to a coach, shown basic movement and falling skills, and eased into the session at a suitable pace. Nobody is expected to spar on their first visit. Parents are welcome to stay and watch junior sessions.
What to Bring
You do not need a judogi for your first visit. Wear a t-shirt or long-sleeved top with jogging bottoms or shorts, avoiding buttons, zips or anything sharp. Bring a water bottle. If you decide to continue, we can advise on judogi sizing, club membership and BJA membership.
